In summary I could have travelled 3kms to the chisso tavern and had the same meals for around $25 instead of $50 and they would have been delicious as they always are (that ones for you Jenny). Scores 2 out of ten because they finally got the fire going. Won't be back!

No sign of the nacho's yet but I tuck into the moccasin anyway. I owned a pair once and they were soft and comfy. This moccasin however was more like a steal work boot. It needed something wet on it. I asked for some Diane sauce and was given the thumbs up. (I thought they had no cream). Ok so from the taste of it, it probably wasn't Diane sauce and your guess would be as good as mine.

Now that can often mean a dry over cooked breast so dropping my eyes to the menu i decide the safe option at this place is going to have to be the schnitty. "Oh the schnitzels are great here especially with the creamy garlic prawns" the waitress offers with a smile that says to me "She knows this". "ok schnitty it is with chips and salad and a good ol bucket full of the creamy prawn sauce.

By now my friend had more than enough time to decide on the beef nacho's, the cornerstone of every "might be drinking tonight's" daily requirement. "oh, can we grab a couple of pieces of garlic bread to start us off please"?

15 minutes of pleasant conversation later the garlic bread arrived and I think I can say it was pretty F***ing good. Now sitting with the expectation of a nice big country style schnitty feast I see the fully loaded waitress turn in our direction. OMG I could eat a horses arse through a horses arse by now and the anticipation is killing me. She gets to our table and ..... Sh***t! ... WTF is that? ... I must have had that look in my eye because she has the "blurb" all ready for me. "I am soooo sorry" she says, "But there is no cream for the prawns" .... Now in my mind I think ok fair enough but whats on my face must be "ok fair enough but WTF is this? I mean... I am now looking at a curled up dark brown err....is it a moccasin? WTF is that? I recognise the four half decent sized prawns and what seems to be some dry fat chunks of grilled super thick cut bacon (in a GP Sauce? ...eh!) but seriously WTF HAVE THEY DONE TO THE POOR CHICKEN??

Truly friendly service at this great little pub & restaurant in Gundaroo. Well worth the 25 min drive, just outside of Canberra. There's a daily menu, but the specials board is not to be missed. Lots of BBQ fare, alongside the owners traditional polish options too. Where else can you find Pierogi in a pub! Brilliant!

The chicken burger with salad and a garlic aoli with chips looks about as good as its going to get. I start to question the waitress about how they cook the breast. Blue screen! Nothing... so I drop a couple of hints, "do they use a grill or a steam convection etc.... Stuck on blue screen for a bit longer then finally "a grill?" comes from the screen ... sorry I mean waitress...

We grab a couple of pretty grotty looking menus and the first thing I notice is none of the dishes from the website are on it. With a suspicious eye I turn to my friend and express my concern. (the staff shortly confirmed "No Sir thats from the old owners.) As I run my eyes down over the menu I start to feel like I am at the Chisholm Tavern for a cheap feed (Love ya Jen) but the prices certainly don't give me that feeling. The seafood looks good and so does the pork belly ..."Very sorry sir but we are out of both of those" ... S**t.

The beef nachos arrived a minute later Sans beef (which was weird because they called it Beef Nachos). My friend was not impressed.

A friend asked today can we go for a drive and have some lunch. The first thing that came to mind was Gundaroo. I have been meaning to have a feed there for years. First step, google. First option that comes up is "Grazing". I call them but fully booked

nice drive out there, we arrive in town and pull up outside the police station (Gulp) and cross the road and am looking at what seems from the outside to be not much. Nice surprise when we walk in though as its pretty much the perfect looking country pub atmosphere.
